To enroll in a clinical research study is a patients personal choice. Clinical trials studies are fruitful only when they are symbiotic in nature..which means...it has to be effective both ways, for patient as well as for the sponsor. Drugs are to help and not to harm public health. If at any phase of the trial patient faces any health problem...he/she should be allowed to quit the same.

I respect author's thoughts that, “The persons participating in Clinical trials are almost equivalent to army soldiers who fight for their country without caring for their lives”. But it is good to have such thought when the participants of clinical trial get the same recognition and respect in the society like an army person. And when it comes to investment of sponsors it is negligible as compared to the government’s investment on defense departments. Before talking of participating in clinical trials being one of the fundamental duties of citizen we should make sure in providing that recognition and dignity to the participant that one should feel proud to be a part of clinical research.

A patient agrees to participate in a clinical trial when he is convinced that the trial is going to help him. But, if in the middle of the trial the patient faces some problems, he should be free to quit as patient comes first rather than the investment of the sponsor.

Once someone has agreed to paticipate willingly in the clinical trial, its his/her moral responsibility to be there until the trial comes to an end. A lot of effort might have been invested in the patient in terms of time, money and hope. But if the patient denies to participate in the mid of the trial than it ofcourse shatters the motivation of sponsors and researchers.
